When school directors hear the term "multi-tenant," they often ask: does that mean other schools can see our student data? The answer is no — and understanding why requires a quick look at how modern cloud software is built.
Multi-tenancy means a single software platform serves multiple organizations (in this case, multiple schools) from the same infrastructure. But each school — called a "tenant" — is completely isolated from every other. A student record from School A is never visible to School B. Not by accident, but by design.
How Infovion Implements Tenant Isolation
In Infovion, every piece of data — every student, every fee record, every exam mark — carries an institution_id. When any query runs, the system automatically filters by the logged-in school's institution_id. It is architecturally impossible for one school to access another's data.
This is the same approach used by enterprise SaaS platforms globally. It's more secure than single-tenant systems (where each school has its own server, which may be poorly maintained) and more cost-effective — allowing Infovion to remain affordable for Tier 2 and Tier 3 schools in India.
